I See A Cross On Calvary

I see a cross on Calvary
indent.gif (54 bytes)indent.gif (54 bytes)That once, by rights, was mine;
But He, Who suffered there for me,
indent.gif (54 bytes)indent.gif (54 bytes)Was moved by love Divine.
I was the one who should have died;
indent.gif (54 bytes)indent.gif (54 bytes)For I was lost to sin;
But Christ, my Lord, was crucified,
indent.gif (54 bytes)indent.gif (54 bytes)My erring soul to win.
That cruel cross of Calvary
indent.gif (54 bytes)indent.gif (54 bytes)How grim and gaunt it stands!
A lone, forsaken Form I see,
indent.gif (54 bytes)indent.gif (54 bytes)With pierced and bleeding hands.
I mark the sweat upon that brow,
indent.gif (54 bytes)indent.gif (54 bytes)I hear the anguished cry;
I see the sorrow even now,
indent.gif (54 bytes)indent.gif (54 bytes)That brings my rescue nigh.
That darkened cross of Calvary,
indent.gif (54 bytes)indent.gif (54 bytes)As noonday turns to night,
Becomes a beacon light to me,
indent.gif (54 bytes)indent.gif (54 bytes)Whose hopes are there made bright;
For, in that awful scene, I view
indent.gif (54 bytes)indent.gif (54 bytes)A cup, filled to the brim,
That represents God's judgments due
indent.gif (54 bytes)indent.gif (54 bytes)To me, yet drained by Him.
That sombre cross of Calvary
indent.gif (54 bytes)indent.gif (54 bytes)Still stands before my eyes.
Still hangs my Savious there for me -
indent.gif (54 bytes)indent.gif (54 bytes)The Lord of glory dies!
O, may this picture never pale,
indent.gif (54 bytes)indent.gif (54 bytes)And may I ne'er forget
How much His blood doth still avail,
indent.gif (54 bytes)indent.gif (54 bytes)And how immense my debt!
